How to train your dragon- By Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III (Spoiler-filled review)

Before I start, I want to say that technically, the author of How to Train your Dragon is Cressida Cowell. But the person who talks with us and takes us through the journey (Along with the author), is Hiccup. Now, the how to Train your Dragon series has already been released in the cinematic universe as an animated film.

Now let's look at the surprising part (For me):

We all know that most books that have been released as movies (Animated or real-life) do not portray all that we read in the book. I expected at least one part of the book to be in the movie and some parts of the movie to be in the book. (Wait, this might be confusing... Hmmm..) Let me make it simple.

BOTH THE BOOK AND THE MOVIE ARE NOT THE SAME AND THEY DO NOT MEET AT ANY POINT. Which was very surprising for me. Anyway, the book starts with Hiccup training for the Initiation test. That was a pretty big deal, because only if you pass that test will you be allowed to join the Hooligan tribe of Berk. Or else they will be sent into exile.

Hiccup's father Stoick the Vast is the chief of the tribe. He already started putting down bets that his son would win. Hiccup was in a dilemma. He has just risked his life to capture his very own dragon: Toothless. And now he is scared and nervous for his test ( Which is understandable because we have those jitters all the time. Especially me.)

Toothless is a very shy dragon. Because Hiccup can talk in Dragonese (The language of the dragons) they both get along pretty well. The test is set to happen on Thor'sday Thursday

(Note that Thor is a Viking god from Norse mythology and not that other one from Avengers MCU)

To make a long story short, along with his friends and enemies (Friends in the future)

Hiccup flunks the test. His father exiles him and his friends with a heavy heart.

Meanwhile, miles underwater a sea dragon is stirring after a long sleep for a few thousand years or so. Because this sea dragon is stirring, and because the Vikings have displeased the great, God of Thunder : Thor. That too on Thor'sday Thursday, there is lightning, thunder and showers of rain everywhere and the sea is stirring up. Literally stirring up the sea. The dragon is awake which leads to another problem. There is another dragon coming up on the other side of Berk.

Eventually both dragons fought till their death and stopped making a ruckus. Then comes the next surprising part. Stoick the Vast realizes how he and the Council of Elders made a mistake by following their stupid laws and banishing their children into exile. He calls back Hiccup and his friends and welcome them back to Berk.

Toothless was no longer a shy little dragon. He was the brave Hero of Berk.

The book ends with another happy ending (Which we all have saw waaay to many times...)

This adventurous tale spun by Cressida Cowell is a must-read for children who just love a good, twisted tale.

With this, I end this post.

Have a good week everyone!!

Stay home, Stay safe.

Love <3,

Harshith ^_^
